What people say about the book...

Narrative that immerses us in many countries thanks to the many odd jobs of the author. We realize, especially in relation to Israel, that he predicts - 41 years ago already - that the conflict with the Palestinians is there to last. The variety of his little jobs and their execution, as comical as it is full of suspense, keeps us captivated from one moment to another throughout the entire book.

Passage from the text - working at a dispensary in Vietnam...

I am still digging a plasma red earth at the bottom of a trench.

In the blink of an eye, a violent explosion sends me out of my hole.
Guided by a light aircraft, two American aerial fighters take turns to plunge
upon their targets with baffling speed and precision before swooshing back up.
In a distance, black smoke is soaring while the comings and goings continue in a dizzying swirl of fuselage sparkling in the sun, slashing the space with long white gashes.

Within a few minutes the attack is over.

Passage from the text...

Cambodia is at war.

The majestic city of Angkor is under assault, a desecrated sanctuary, the colossal statues strafed at point-blank range, the faces of stone pulverized by mortar fire, leaving Buddha beheaded, heads with peaceful smiles rolling under a hail of tracer bullets.
